Advanced Communication Software Systems Laboratory - AxyS Lab

"Politehnica" University of Timisoara, Computer Science and Engineering Department
Str. V. Parvan nr. 2, 300223 Timisoara, Romania
History

First research activities have started on grid computing in 2005 in the context of the national MedioGrid project where Dacian Tudor and Georgiana Macariu have been working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vladimir Cretu. At the same time, research activities on power efficiency for mobile battery powered devices have been conducted by Marius Marcu and Dacian Tudor.

In 2006, the idea of a FP project on future mobile system technologies emerged. Dacian Tudor's contribution to the eMuCo proposal lead to the idea of building a core team at the "Politehnica" University of Timsioara.

In 2007 the eMuCo proposal has been presented in front of the Europeean Commision and rated second in its class. This lead to the imminent start of the project and brought the AxyS lab to reality.

Vision

The AxyS Lab aims to provide an attractive international research and practical environment for both undergraduate and graduate students. We focus on state of the art present and future technologies in both academic and industrial research projects.

Research Domains

  • Advanced Scheduling Techniques on Mobile and Embedded MultiCore Systems
  • Communication Paradigms in Mobile Communication Systems
  • Distributed and Grid Computing
